Bio

Hi! I’m Joe. I live in Portland, OR with my wife, Alex Sharp, and my puggle, Chief. I spent seven years working in book publishing in New York City, creating digital marketing campaigns for some of the best-selling authors in the world, including Dan Brown, John Grisham, Margaret Atwood, and Ian McEwan, as well as Hollywood celebrities such as Judy Greer and sports stars such as Reggie Jackson and Mark Titus. Then, I spent a year working as the first Marketing Director at a start-up food & hospitality media brand, The Local Palate, in Charleston, SC.

While in New York, I founded my own production company, Big Rodent, and produced several off-broadway plays, including Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure and Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband. I also run an educational publishing company, Mushroom Cloud Press, which I founded when I was 18. We specialize in providing performance materials to high school speech teams and theater departments. We were the first publishing company to focus on the speech & debate market.

In my spare time, I design card games, host a podcast about music, and explore the Pacific Northwest as much as possible.
